You know we churn out lists of the best properties on the market under £500k. It's time-consuming, but the budget makes it quick and easy to decide if a home is worth its salt. Now, when it comes to dream homes, it’s a whole different ball game. With no budget, you must be more discerning—figure out what you truly want from a house. Is it the bells and whistles or the bones and structure? Here at Tat, we’re all about the structure, so a few of our picks might seem a bit odd, but there’s heart in those homes. Of course, we couldn't resist including some real property porn.

  1. Hill Top House, 7 Bedrooms, 6 Bathrooms, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, £8,000,000

I have a soft spot for this house. It sits near my parents’ home outside Moreton in Marsh. I have driven past it countless times and always thought, ‘Wouldn’t that be nice?’. Well, at £8,000,000, it bloody well should be.

  1. Grade II Listed Stone Country House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, The Vatch, Stroud, £1,295,000

This falls into the move straight-in category. I have a severe fondness for Stroud. My great-friend grew up there, and I have a deep affection for the place due to summers spent marching around that countryside. I love how this place just sits there. In amongst the green, that glimpse of view from the windows conjures up the idea of a very happy home.

  1. Grade II Listed Georgian Country House, 9 Bedrooms, 8 Bathrooms, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, £6,350,000

I’ve always loved a house with a drive. The excitement! My grandmother's house had a drive, and I always got a little kick as we turned the corner to see what lay at the end. In her case, it was a new build bungalow on the outskirts of Leicestershire, but the feeling was still there. This Georgian beauty lies at the end of a half-mile drive and would certainly inspire a bit of excitement as it came into view. This place is quite the pile, clearly done to an exacting standard. It's one of those big houses that you know would be well heated; well, with that level of upholstery, it would be mad for it not to be.
