Our Favourite Antiques On The Market This Week
Here we are with the virtual Tat boot sale; I have rummaged around the sites of many different dealers and come up with a few pieces I adore. On reflection of this list, if I bought everything, my house would be somewhat eclectic. That is not surprising, looking at the things I source for Tat.
God, I love the boot sale. The first one I remember was when I was 8/9. My mother had packed her Morris Minor full of all sorts; I remember a beautiful bird cage, which I thought might be the most magical thing I had ever seen, mountains of old fabric and elegant little oil paintings. That day was pure excitement, and now, thinking about it, I would like to do another. But it has to be on a summer's day, complemented by a splendid refreshments tent. On days like that, the amount of cake and Pimms you consume is a nonentity. It's just par for the course.
When I did one of my first Portobello stores, my sister kindly helped me, and my father came to visit; we probably had seven or so mulled wines each. It meant the day was much jollier, but I will say the pricing was perhaps a bit dodgy towards the end.
Anyway, I do apologise for rambling, but what are Fridays for if not to ramble and look at antiques?
