Here, I am peddling not my own antiques but those of people I love and respect in the industry. I know I am a broken record on the subject, but I just can’t quite understand why second-hand isn’t the first point of call for anyone. Well, obviously, you do want to mix it up a little, and when I can afford to pay an artisan to make me a chair, I will. But for the moment, my budget doesn’t afford that excitement. What it does afford are pieces that are different from anyone else’s and have already shown their longevity, but they don’t even get me started on the environmental impact. There are some pieces below that will certainly stretch your budget, but they are always exciting to see, and as I always drone on about, please use these as suggestions and delve into the stock of these terrific dealers.

  • Dealer 1 has a good range of pieces, all for excellent prices.

  • Dealer 14: I would like to buy everything they have, but they would also need to style it for me.

  • Dealer 17: You have to love what they have to offer. If you are ever in Rye, it is one of the first places you must go, and my favourite art dealers are 19. McCully & Crane. Tat Tour Guide To Rye.

In other news, we have a bumper guide of things to do in March on the Tat website, and our Job Board has had an influx of new jobs this week, so happy hunting.

  1. The French House York, Late 19th Century Square back armchair on fluted legs, £350

  1. Ancien et Jolie, French 1950s Forged Iron Floor Lamp, £695

  1. Miles Griffiths Antiques, Small English 18th Century Antique Oak Corner Cupboard, £395
