Out and About - Sit Down & Scroll
Boy I am excited for four days off, that out of office is going on at 4pm on the dot.

On a distinctly average Tuesday, I went to the Islington home of Olympia and Ariadne Irving. I spend several nights a month going to work events, as I don’t work in bookkeeping but instead in the delightful world of interiors; these events are not a bore for me. The only time I think twice is just before I have entered, realising that I am flying solo and have not one clue about what is on the other side of that door. Thankfully, as soon I walked in, I saw the friendly faces of hosts Olympia and Ariadne. They have partnered with their great friend Remy Renzullo, one of the most exciting interior designers of my generation, to come up with some simply darling plates. The whole event went by in a colourful whirlwind of conversation, great food by Xanthe Gladstone and huge amounts of laughter from Remy who I think must have the best laugh I have heard for some time.
Of course, following that, I want to have a little segment about small talk. It completely fails me, as does witty repartee. Many won’t believe this, but as soon as I feel a little shy, I shut down entirely and can think of nothing to say. Any suggestions are welcome.
