Tat London Briefing: The Latest & Greatest
"I don’t mean to brag, but if you’re looking for affordable, interesting, and useful interior conversations, you really need look no further."
As ever, I want to draw your attention to the Tat Job Board. Heard of Beata Heuman? Jamb? Pentreath & Hall? Of course you have. Well, now’s your chance to work for them—each has recently posted a job on the board, along with many more. It’s a humdinger of a month!
Secondly, I’m taking you on a tour of the Blog. As I’ve mentioned before (and before that), full access to the blog costs £25 a year—just £2 a month. A small price to pay for a guide to your next home, a last-minute holiday saviour, and a nudge in the right direction when it comes to affordable antiques, fabric, and whatever else I can dig up.
Here are a few of the members articles that have graced the web pages over the last month or so - (free ones further down)

Divide and Conquer: Transforming Tight Spaces
Some years ago, my friend's flat was featured on a website—I can’t recall the exact title, but it included the word tiny. By London or England's standards, this flat would be considered quite substantial, especially for one person. But to the rest of the world, it might have seemed like a shoebox. Thankfully, my friend is a highly regarded interior designer, no stranger to creating beautiful spaces on a budget and working with the more modest dimensions we often encounter here.
Barbara Cartland: The Romance Of Food
After Claudia Legge's excellent piece about her great-grandmother, the icon of romance Barbara Cartland, we’ve gone all pink and bubbly. So what better way to celebrate the romantic month of February than by revisiting the gloriousness of her celebrated 1984 book The Romance of Food?
Antique Shops Worth a Road Trip
Obviously, antiquing in itself is a thrill—I don’t need to tell you that. The buzz of a good antique shop, a great market, or even a terrible one can make my day and sometimes even my week. That being said, it’s always good to make a weekend of it—this way, everyone wins.
Spilling the Beans on Kitchen Costs: How Much Do Kitchens Actually Cost?
What I realise we sometimes lack at Tat are the cold, hard facts. We’re all about theories, ideas, and beauty—but sometimes, that’s not enough. As you know, I’m very keen to make this membership work for you, and occasionally, these articles will be here to help you navigate big decisions or at least give you a rough understanding of the costs involved in major undertakings.

From Klimt to Cake: A Weekend Well-Spent in Vienna

A Gem of a Gift, Jewellery For Valentines Day
I don’t know who actually celebrates Valentine’s Day beyond a hastily bought card and a couple of subpar flowers, so this article is a bit of a swizz. But I do love looking at jewellery and discovering new makers. Below is a mix of names you may have heard of and a few I hope are new to your eyes.
The Tat Ethos For The Coming Year
While I take a moment between worrying about HMRC and the general collapse of civilisation, my thoughts, as ever, drift to Tat. A familiar affliction. Tat has attached itself to me like an extrarneous limb—sometimes useful, occasionally elegant, mostly an inconvenience I’d rather swaddle under a kaftan…

The Deli-ghtful Ones: Independent Spots Keeping It Fresh

Rooms with a View: The World's Most Ravishing Hotels, According to Those Who Know
After a glorious holiday in Vienna, I am now entirely unshakeable in my belief that the structure of a hotel—its walls, its bones, its interiors—is as crucial to my enjoyment as the city beyond its doors. Beauty, after all, is why we’re here. So, who better to consult on the most ravishing hotels in the world than those who truly understand it? These are not freebie-fuelled TikTokers peddling the latest PR stunt; they are people for whom beauty is a lifelong pursuit, whose taste you can trust implicitly. Their recommendations may not be within reach just yet, but one day—perhaps—they’ll mark the trip of a lifetime.
As ever, the UK delivers when it comes to things to do. With spring on the horizon, it’s time to embrace the positivity so often overlooked when considering this country. We should seize the creative riches at our fingertips, reminding ourselves that, for all our notably humble tendencies (which, in many ways, are rather charming), we could do with a serious injection of good spirit.
