Clothes are not my speciality. When it comes to high fashion and trends, I am completely clueless. Recently, I found myself in a car with a few journalists and realised just how limited my knowledge of the fashion industry is—I had to keep my mouth firmly shut, much like I do when watching football in a pub. Despite this, I do have a love for fashion. I've never felt entirely comfortable in my body, which is perfectly healthy and functional, but I like to cover it where possible. That being said, I have a penchant for shortish dresses, which you might see below. My other penchant is for independent brands. The big guns of fashion are fun, but the cost is a bore, and some of the things they push out leave me cold. So, in the list below, I have created a mixture of pieces, hopefully from some brands you have never heard of. Hopefully, some pieces will be in your price range, and maybe one or two will move to your wish list.

My sister and I refer to our 10%. It is the 10% that can lean towards the tacky, so please excuse a few of the below, which indeed sit in that necessary 10%. We all need a little Liberace flare.

Last but not least, these articles have no affiliate links. Each piece is purely here because it caught my eye. I have to say I am genuinely impressed with M&S's offerings. I have no idea if it is the fact that I am now in my mid-thirties or if their buying/ designs have gone up a gear, but I genuinely dig it for my basics. Those linen trousers below—I have them and adore them.
